Christmas arrived in New Paltz this year with the annual holiday counter day, which was celebrated on December 16, 2009. Contractors were greeted with a number of vendors offering information on existing products as well as new product offerings.

Vendors from Dottie Products, American Lighting, Kichler Lighting, Cree Lighting, Viessmann Boilers & Radiant, Unico High Velocity Duct Systems, Viega and Daybrite Lighting were a wealth of information and enjoyment to the 70-80 contractors that were in attendance throughout the day. The contractors who were here wanted to remain for an extended period of time enjoying the fun, food and fellowship with brother contractors and vendors.

Ray, our branch manager, as well as chef par excellence, outdid himself again this year with a buffet which included sausage & peppers, sliced garlic roast beef, teriyaki chicken, Shrimp-pasta-caper salad, as well as a number of cold and hot vegetable and salad dishes. No one left the counter day with any excuse for being hungry.

Some of the highlights of the day were a showing of the new Vitodens gas boiler by our Viessman representative, Dan Smith; showing of the various color and white LED lighting offerings from Kichler by Mark Antonucci; a product informational display put on by Paul Gregory from Lightspec dealing with Daybrite Lighting; and a demonstration and product familiarization dealing with Manabloc® and Propress products by Tim Arnold from Viega.

On a somewhat more serious note, this writer would like to thank each and every one of the contractors that frequent the counter at our New Paltz Branch for their patronage, friendship, and understanding as we have gone through a series of growing pains in the personnel department. We realize that there were times that you waited longer than you wanted, but thank you for your patience. Joe Arcarola on the counter and Jasmin Attala in the office are both growing into their positions and doing better and better as the days go by. I am proud to have them working alongside me here at the New Paltz Branch and they both do The Yaun Company proud with their efforts to serve our customers.

As we look to the coming year, we continue to strive to serve you in the best Yaunco tradition.
