OUT with the OLD R22 Freon
IN with the NEW R410A
Burt Robertson, Manager
2010 will bring major changes to the HVAC industry with R22 no longer being used in the production of new equipment. If there are jobs started with an air handler or coil installed and need the matching R22 condenser you will need to order it now. Some models are all ready depleted from stock. This can cause frustration for both the contractor and homeowner and the distributor. Many contractors worked outside the manufacturer’s recommendations when the Seers changed from 10 to 13 and did not change the indoor coil when replacing the outdoor unit. The R410A will require that both the indoor unit and the outdoor unit and maybe even the line set may need to be changed. There will be an increase in compressor change outs, repairs and many will replace the whole system.
Since the new coil will be larger and may require some tin work, some creativity may be needed when trying to install a new R410A coil to replace the old R22 coil.
Yaun Company stocks the Diversitech Pro-Flush line set flush kit which will clean out the R22 from the lines if the lines are the correct size.
