L.E.D. LIGHTING HELPS IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIFE
Dave Kawauchi, Electrical Marketing Manager
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, 22% of the electricity used in this country is utilized to power lighting. With soaring energy costs based on the availability and control of the fossil fuel market along with growing concern of protecting the environment, changes in lighting are long overdue.
LED’s (light emitting diodes) are one source of change for the lighting industry. LED’s contain solid-state technology similar to those found in microprocessors. There are no moving parts, glass environments or filaments – nothing to break, shatter or leak.
Unlike traditional lamps and bulbs, they are not subject to sudden failure or burnout.
How can LED lighting improve our quality of life? For one, LED’s save energy as they consume 40-70% LESS electricity than standard incandescent or fluorescent lighting sources.
By reducing electricity demands, carbon emissions from electric power plants are reduced, helping clean up the environment as well.
Unlike traditional incandescent and fluorescent lamps, LED’s contain NO mercury or lead, making them non-hazardous.
LED’s last 10 TIMES longer than normal light sources, greatly reducing maintenance costs.
These benefits alone make switching to LED light sources a “no-brainer”.
Important features of LED lighting include dimmability and deeper, truer color rendering – features homeowners are looking for in the lighting needs.
Become a part of the latest changes in the lighting industry – look for LED light sources. Your customers and the environment are looking for these changes.
