Safety Recall on Emerson Ceiling Fan Mounting Kit
Emerson Air Comfort Products recently informed its distributors
of the safety recall of the CF10N1 accessory kit. The die-cast
bracket used in the CF10N1 ceiling fan accessory kit may possibly
spread over time allowing the fan to fall from the ceiling.
The CF10N1 accessory kit was designed for use in Emerson fans
in both the close-to-ceiling and cathedral ceiling applications.
The potential for spreading brackets is limited to those kits
used in the close-to-ceiling installations. The CF10N1 was manufactured
by Emerson from 1984 to 1989.
It is Emerson's intent to locate and replace as many CF10N1 brackets
utilized in close-to-ceiling installations as possible. Emerson
will provide replacement parts along with detailed instructions
to owners of fans in such configurations free of charge. If a
consumer requires assistance with installing the replacement part,
Emerson will reimburse qualified electrician/service providers
according to the following procedures.
How to determine whether a fan is affected by this notice:
1. Is the fan installed on a flat (non-sloped) ceiling?
2. Does the fan have a two-piece ceiling canopy ?
3. If so, turn off the power at main panel. Remove the two canopy
nuts as shown in A. Remove the two piece ceiling canopy and look
for the CF10N1 model number on a label located on one of the ceiling
canopy sides. If the ceiling canopy does not contain this label,
your fan is not affected by this notice.
If the ceiling canopy contains this label, STOP USE of the fan
until hanger bracket has been replaced. Do not allow anyone under
the fan. Emerson will pro-vide replacement part kits to the service
provider at no cost. If you need CF10N1 replacement kits call
toll free 1-900-326-5487. Emerson will reimburse service providers
up to $50.00 per fan for labor associated with installing the
replacement part. Service providers must remove the CF10N1 label
from the inside of the ceiling canopy and return the label along
with an invoice for service provided. The invoice must include
the customer's name, address, and telephone number. Submit all
invoices to:
