Zone First zone dampers save fuel
Burt Robertson, HVAC Marketing Manager
With the rising costs of heating fuels homeowners need to look at down sizing the area in their homes being heated. When the children have left home, do you really need to heat rooms not being used? If you have a boiler in your home, it most likely has zone valves to control the temperature in different areas of your home. So why not do the same thing with zone dampers on your furnace?
Zone First dampers can be slid into existing duct to block off the air flow to areas that do not need heating or cooling. Like anything else, it is always easier to do it on a new job while the duct system is being installed. Don’t let this stop you from looking at your customers’ existing duct systems to see if it can be upgraded by adding some zone dampers to let them shut off part of their house and start saving on fuel bills.
Keep in mind you can’t just install dampers, you have to also add a by-pass damper to insure you don’t force excess air into the ducts which are still open as this could cause noise. Do your customers a favor the next time you are there for a cleaning or service call. Take a look. Is the ductwork all exposed in the basement where you can easily slip in a few dampers to block off rooms which no longer need heat? Zone First zone dampers offer a great opportunity for you to make some money while offering your customer a way to save money on fuel bills. Give us a call we can help you with all your zoning needs.
